Course Overview
The Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122) is designed for people who aspire to become skilled vocational education and training (VET) teachers, trainers, and assessors. This qualification prepares you to deliver high-quality training and assessment across various settings, including Registered Training Organisations (RTOs), businesses, community groups, and schools.
Upon successful completion, students will possess the qualifications necessary to operate as trainers and assessors in compliance with VET legislation and standards, supporting the delivery of accredited training programs and the assessment of candidates in their area of vocational expertise.
Delivery & Assessment
You can choose to complete the course in-person at one of our training facilities, or online via video connection.
The Certificate IV in Training and Assessment is delivered across two sessions of face-to-face training, with each session taking three days. We understand that our students lead busy lives, which is why the course has been designed this way to help you manage other priorities such as family and work commitments, to make additional study as accessible as possible.
Session 1 (3 days)
The first session consists of three days of face-to-face training, where you will develop essential skills in vocational education and training. This session focuses on core concepts, including competency-based assessment, facilitating engaging training sessions, and integrating essential skills into the learning process. By the end of Session 1, you will have completed key units and will receive a partial Statement of Attainment (SOA), marking a significant milestone in your journey to becoming a qualified trainer and assessor.
Session 2 (3 days)
The second session also consists of three days of face-to-face training (either in-person or online). In this final session, you will build on your learnings in Session 1 and focus on applying your knowledge in real-world environments. You'll develop assessment tools, mentor learners, and further hone your training skills. For planning purposes, please view key dates for Session 2 .
You will be assessed on your competency across 12 units and will need to successfully pass both sessions to obtain your full qualification.
Online Modules (3-6 months)
In addition to Sessions 1 and 2 above, you are required to complete a series of online learning modules which will make up the rest of your course. During these, you'll build on the skills you've learnt during the face-to-face sessions, and dive deeper into the various disciplines of Training and Assessment.
You can access these modules online and work through them at your own pace throughout the duration of the course – giving you the chance to take control of the time it takes you to complete the course, and providing you with a knowledge base you can come back to as you progress to becoming a qualified Trainer and Assessor.
