CONSTRUCTION TRAINING FUND (CTF) WESTERN AUSTRALIA ONLY

Construction Training Fund (CTF) provides funding for upskilling and short-course training for people who work in construction and want to future-proof their jobs.

The Upskilling & Short Course Funding program is designed to help diversify your expertise and build a safer and more sustainable future for you and the community.

To be eligible for funding for your construction short course and training, choose an approved short course offered by a registered training organisation (RTO) under our Upskilling & Short Course Funding program. Our rebates cover up to 80% of the cost of training courses that can set you or your business up for success.

You can claim a rebate for as many approved courses as you complete, providing they fall under the required categories.

Who can claim the upskilling and short course funding?

Our Upskilling & Short Course Funding program provides eligible construction workers with subsidies for completing approved courses.

Eligible workers in the construction industry can benefit from upskilling and short course training – after all, we all have more we can learn! However, the cost of this training can sometimes impact our opportunity to do so.

Our short course rebates are available to many eligible construction workers. Whether you’re an apprentice or trainee, long-term worker or business owner, offset your training costs with upskilling and short-course funding.

Please note: subsidy claims cannot be paid for trainees who fail to complete the course(s) in full.

The construction training courses we cover

*Some exceptions may apply, please contact our team with any queries

All courses supported by CTF provide skills and knowledge for the construction and building industry to develop, maintain, or improve skills relevant to employment.

CTF’s Upskilling & Short Course Funding covers:

✓ Construction skills, such as trade, technical and post-trade

✓ Industry skills

✓ Software skills

✓ Occupational licensing

✓ Occupational health and safety

These courses can be subsidised for an eligible apprentice or trainee, as well as an existing worker in the construction industry.

The best way to find out if an upskilling course is available for funding is to chat with a CTF team member. You can call us on (08) 9244 0100 or fill out the form on this page. We’ll be able to provide you with an answer bespoke to your circumstances.

What factors impact how much I’ll receive for upskilling and short course training?

Rebates for approved upskilling and short courses vary between metropolitan and regional areas. The maximum amount an employee can claim for construction-related training in the metropolitan area is $1,300 per course.

For training undertaken regionally, the maximum rebate is $1,700 per course. Please visit our Levy & Disbursements Guide for detailed information about how we calculate the applicable rebate.

Am I eligible for funding?

CTF’s upskilling and short course rebates are claimable by workers in the Western Australian building and construction industry.

Your eligibility for funding will depend on your ability to demonstrate primary and substantial, direct involvement in relevant projects in Western Australia’s construction industry. Specifically, this includes on-site construction, installation and/or fabrication activities.

If you’re not sure whether you’re eligible for the Upskilling & Short Course Funding rebate, give CTF a call on (08) 9244 0100 or fill out the form on this page.
