Course Delivery and Assessment
This skill set provides you with the essential skills and knowledge required to conduct assessments in the Vocational Education and Training (VET) sector. This skill set satisfies the minimal educational criteria for assessors working independently, as specified in the vocational education and training legislation, frameworks, and standards. The course is suitable for those aiming to fulfill assessor roles in Registered Training Organisations (RTOs) or similar settings. The TAESS00019 Assessor Skill Set supersedes the TAESS00011 Assessor Skill Set, with updated units reflecting current industry needs.
What You'll Study
To successfully achieve this qualification, it is essential to complete the following units:
- TAEASS412 – Assess competence: This unit covers the skills and knowledge required to plan, prepare for, and conduct competency-based assessments using nationally recognised training products
- TAEASS413 – Participate in assessment validation
- TAEDES411 – Use nationally recognised training products to meet vocational training needs: This unit focuses on analysing and utilizing nationally recognised training products to address the skill and knowledge requirements of vocational learners
Entry Requirements
There are no specific entry requirements to enrol in this course, however you need basic computer skills and have sufficient language, literacy, and numeracy skills to complete assessments.
It is a condition of enrolment in any nationally recognised training (accredited) course that you supply the training organisation with a valid unique student identifier (USI). If you don't already have a USI, you can apply for one online at www.usi.gov.au or we can apply for one for you.
Licensing/Regulatory Information
This skill set meets the minimum education requirements for assessors operating without supervision in applicable VET legislation, frameworks, and standards. It supersedes the TAESS00011 Assessor Skill Set, with updated units reflecting current industry needs.

These units contribute credits towards the TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, as well as other qualifications that include these units. Should you decide to pursue the complete Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40122) in the future, the units from this course will be eligible for direct credit transfer, eliminating the need for repetition. Additionally, we will lower the cost of your Certificate IV course for each unit that qualifies for credit transfer.
